Govinda Gao Man Govinda Gao - O Mind! Sing The Glory Of Lord Govinda E-mail
bhajan16
  1. O Mind! Sing the glory of Lord Govinda; sing this glory repeatedly. In this human life, we have an opportunity to sing and worship Lord Rama and Lord Krishna.
  2. O man! This human birth is extremely difficult to obtain, so be eager to take the "boat" to crossover the ocean of repeated births (sufferings).
  3. Listen attentively, with a pure heart, to the stories of Lord Krishna in the Bhagavatam (particularly about his childhood lila in Vraja, Vrindavan and Gokula with milkmaids). Just as one bathes in the river Ganges to be cleansed, cleanse your soul by association with saints who have realized the Truth.
  4. Mira, the Beloved of Lord Krishna says: You be a devotee of Lord Hari and meditate on his holy feet.
Commentary:
Lord Shri Krishna has said often that the human birth is very rare and is only for loving our Creator. Right now is the time, and right here is place to sing, listen and meditate on His Glory. Let's stop making excuses. We must be eager at every moment to worship the Lord. Every moment, we must ensure that this precious life is not wasted in seeking enjoyment of perishable objects of this world; perishable objects are obtained and enjoyed even by the lower species. The human body is a boat, a unique opportunity to cross over once and for all to release ourselves from the repeated cycle of birth and death.

It is necessary, as repeatedly instructed by the Lord in the Bhagavad Gita, that each one of us regularly study and practice a path that is suitable to us. Practice alone will help us experience the joy of eternal life, not mere bookish knowledge. We must do everything in spirituality with a pure heart. Besides performing duties in a manner that they will not bind us further, association with holy saints is absolutely necessary for books are inert; they cannot transfer light. Only lit lamps (saints) can light (help) others.

Our ultimate purpose is to become a devotee of the Lord by dedicating everything we do to the Lord only. The reader may note how saints like Mirabai convey the entire spiritual message in short and simple statements. From the lives of saints, we can also note  that book learning and ritualistic temple going is not necessary when we really want to realize the Truth-Joy-Bliss.

“A sister said: “I used to pray, but have now given it up.” I asked: “Why?” She replied: “Because I used to deceive myself.” The reply is, no doubt, correct. But let her give up deceiving. Why give up praying?” – M.K. Gandhi
