Harivar Mukyo Kem Jai? - How Can I Abandon My Beloved Hari? |
|
- O my dear, consistent and reliable friend! How can I abandon my Beloved Hari who alone is my true Husband? How can I even think of any other person?
- I have tied the knot of love with Shree Krishna, the Darling of Nandababa. This means even death shall not do us apart.
- The Darling of the village of Gokul has intoxicated me with Pure Love. The sweet sound of His flute inspires me to abandon the worldly attachments and converge to Him amidst mother nature and in the tranquility of the night.
- I have connected to Him from my childhood (starting at the age of five)! How can I ever forget that commitment made through the bottom of my heart?
- I am no longer attached to delusive relatives whether by birth or by marriage and this does not rule out any so-called friends either.
- O my beloved Giridhar! My Darling Gopal Krishna! You are very kind. Please do not let me down now that you have accepted me as your ward. I beg to be your true lover, relative, wife, beloved and friend. It is not appropriate to neglect your devotee nor should you allow her to suffer.
- O my Darling Hari! Come and marry me in this very life and if you could right now! Only then the frustration of our separation would ease.
- O Lord Giridhar Nagar! O my Husband! O Darling and King of Vraja! Show me your Supreme Form! Do not hide from me any more. Please do not stay away from me even a single moment, which is like a millennium.
Commentary:
In this bhajan, we see and feel pure love calling upon pure love, which is based upon renunciation of all that we hold dear in our ignorance. We abandon what is truly ours and cling to what is never ours (i.e. relatives, friends, events, things and places). Sweet music can be heard only in the silence of our mind and heart. Mirabai was Love Incarnate, Shree Krishna in the female form.
