Mukhda Ni Maya Lagi Re - Beloved Mohan (Shree Krishna)! I Am Enchanted By Your Beautiful Face |
|
|
- O Dear Beloved Mohan (Shree Krishna)! I am enchanted by your beautiful face, which reflects the Universe.
- When I came face to face with you, Dear Lord!, the entire world with its creatures as well as wealth became worthless to me. My mind is now pure, unattached and serene, perfectly at peace with all.
- Happiness of the worldly creatures (samsaris) is like a mirage. I would now onwards consider such happiness that arises from physical pleasures as trifling.
- Happiness of the worldly creatures is undependable, constantly changing and full of pain; once married it causes widowhood. Why should I marry or stay with such a person who is destined to die (sooner than we think)?
- If at all I am to marry, my Beloved will be Eternal Krishna who will bring me Eternal Love. There will be no fear of widowhood anymore.
- Mirabai is yours alone, O Lord! You are my only hope and now I am the most fortunate of all fortunate creatures.
Commentary:
Worldly pleasures are not only transient but painful in the end. There is no real joy in transient things or people. Every worldly moment inevitably is associated with happiness and misery. Birth is coupled with death as marriage is with widowhood. However, man is part of the Infinite and therefore will not rest until reuniting with It. Marriage, as Mirabai refers to here, is of her earthly soul with the Universal Soul. This is possible for any of us but only after realizing the nothingness of worldly pleasures and then loving the Lord and His entire manifestation as complimentary.
Love is God and thus Mirabai is in love with Love which alone can satisfy, her. Her message is simple. One must renounce transient pleasures for Eternal Joy.
Mirabai was a Realized Soul, the Lord Incarnate! She lovingly instructs us that real love, joy and peace are in loving the Lord alone who resides in our heart. Fearlessness, eternal marriage and constant joy are the signs of a Yogi like Mirabai. May She bless us with her vision to all who follow her path of love as a true gopi should. One cannot effectively become a Love-Incarnate without total surrender to the Lord.
