  1. O Dear Sweetheart Lord Krishna! Please listen to this modest request from me!
  2. With others You mingle so affectionately but then why do You stay away from me after casting a spell?
  3. I have no one else to turn to; I have surrendered totally to You.
  4. You promised to come back to me but so far nothing has happened! I am already losing my inner strength!
  5. Mira pleads to the Lord, "When will you accommodate me? I am begging for your blessings!"

Commentary:

In this personal conversation between Mira and her Lord, we notice that purity lures a devotee to talk directly to the Lord in a very exclusive manner. We are free to express and talk as our heart reveals. We can ask Him to listen to us and even a loving jealousy of other gopies who might be enjoying the Lord's company is permissible to our human nature. The Lord often plays hide-and-seek with His devotees as a cluster of clouds play with the sun.

It is most important to leave everything behind including our own views, beliefs and thoughts when we surrender to the Lord. He must be our only Goal, Object and Lover. Such unconditional surrender is recommended by the Lord in Gitaji (18:65-66). There must be urgency since we do not know how much longer we are all going to live. Now and here is the time to worship and realize this Love. Our request must totally dissolve our personality and ego when praying to the Lord. Mira has a perfect lesson for us in this bhajan: How to make Krishna our own?

Quotes

"Beware, death is shooting arrows over your head. Conquer death, kill the desires of the heart, and be not vanquished in the battle of life. Sleep not the sleep of sensual delight, repent of your wrong-doings, and lose not the wealth of your heart. Let not the load of the world weigh on your head; shake it off and delay no longer. This is the time appointed for you. O traveler, awake; already the day is breaking. You must soon leave the inn."— Dadu (A Hindu Poet-Seer of 16th century)
