Ranaji, Hu To Giridhar Man Bhavi - Ranaji! Lord Giridhar Has Accepted Me As His Beloved E-mail
bhajan12

Addressing her husband Ranaji, Mirabai says:

  1. O Ranaji! Lord Giridhar (Krishna) has accepted me as his beloved.  He likes me and enjoys my company as a person would enjoy tasty food (or as tasty food pleases one’s mind).
  2. I was a Gopi of Vraja in my previous birth but by mistake I have ended up in your house.
  3. I was born as a princess; my father being king Jayamal (in Medta) but was given in marriage to you, O Ranaji! (in Chittorgarh, the capitol of Sisodias).
  4. I will not quit loving Giridhar even for a moment even if you threaten to kill me by forcing me to drink the poison of a Cobra.
  5. Mira’s Lord is Giridhar-Nagar who has graced me with eternal love for Lord Hari.

Commentary:
In this bhajan we learn the historical facts about Mira’s birth, parents and the family in which she was married.  We also learn her intense love for Lord Giridhar not only in childhood but even in her previous life when she was a beloved Gopi (Radhika) of Vrindavan (Vraja Bhoomi near Mathura). She was so pure that life after life she loved only Lord Krishna and her life had no other purpose or worldly desires.

We also learn that she was fearless, a sign of a realized soul. She passed through several treacherous events in her husband’s family where her mother-in-law and sister-in-law tried to harass her for not being obedient to their family traditions and not being a normal wife to the Rana. She however was firm in her love and had already offered her life to the Lord as her husband from childhood.  Being a faithful “wife” to Lord Krishna, she could not offer herself to anyone else under any conditions. Her mind, intellect and all actions were directed only towards the love of the Lord and she cared little for worldly traditions or what the family or the world thought of her behavior. This  is a true sign of a saint or an Avatar. She was an Avatar herself of the Lord Krishna or Lord Hari. Very few recognized it in her time or even today after four hundred and fifty years.

Her simplicity, honesty, love, joy and peace should inspire all “seeking souls” as an ideal example to follow, if we wish to be really happy in this very life and more so even after the end of this physical life. May she bless us all who seek love of Lord Krishna. May we be His bride like Radhika and Mirabai through eternity.
