Should some things be avoided completely, even if they bring temporary joy? |

|
Yes! Avoid bad company, dirty movies, books, magazines, bars, prostitutes, etc. completely, even if they give temporary joy. Your own experience tells you that temporary joys bring more pain than happiness.
Do not delude yourself into thinking you know what is good and what is bad and that after trying the bad you will come to the good. It may be too late. Addiction starts from experimentation or causal use because they become part of your nature. Once they become your nature, you become helpless and it becomes more difficult to change. There are plenty of harmless things to experiment.
Why go for temporary joys when you can attain the supreme joy in this life and many more by striving to achieve God. The Almighty is Sat (Existence) Chit (Consciousness) and Anand (Bliss). God has given us discriminatory power and intelligence, so use it wisely to achieve what is permanent rather than temporary.
