For ignorant people there is a heaven and hell.  In our scriptures they talk about heaven and hell, except it's not in another world. It is the one we create here. When you are angry, you are in hell already. When you are happy, you create a heaven for yourself. Heaven and hell are in behavior. Don't worry about what will happen after you die. Be concerned about what you do while you are alive.

Heaven and Hell are both on earth. We are suffering and enjoying life according to our karmas and the purpose of life is to over come this Heaven and Hell and go towards recognizing or realizing the stage that is beyond both reality and imagination. There is an absolute state we call "Samadhi." There is no Heaven or Hell, only continuous joy, also called God or Sat-Chit-Ananda. In short, there is no Heaven or Hell above or below us. There are good and evil actions which bring joy or suffering according to law of karma.

Right now you should do what makes you happy and makes others happy also. Scriptures talk about this because most people are ignorant. They create their own concept of heaven through confusion. They say that they will send you to heaven if you give them money. Because people always want something for nothing, others can go on cheating and deceiving in the name of religion. We must learn the Gita so we can get rid of our misunderstanding.
