Eternal Goal: Akashat Patatim E-mail

"Just as the water falling from the sky flows towards one ocean (i.e. its source), so do all prayers offered to various gods reach only one God, Keshava -- the Supreme Being who is without a name or a form and is also beyond the space, the time and the law of causation."

Sanatan prayers are universal in nature and therefore given the name Sanatan, or Eternal.

We humans are also eternal, springing from the same source, the one and only Creator (Gita 14:3,4). Though we appear different, we are all the same. Just as various parts of a tree -- the branches, branches, leaves, flowers and fruits -- differ in size, shape or function but all belong to one tree. All our energy originates from one source: the Sun. All our waters belong to a sole source: the Ocean. And all milk from various colors, size and breed of cows is always white.

It is a folly to even imagine several different gods. They are nothing but various forms of a single energy or God whom we look to for unity and brotherhood. They should never be used to isolate one from another. There is no harm in worshiping God in a specific form as long as we don't lose sight of the Ultimate behind it. This means not forcing our own beliefs, religion, and practices on others, but accepting all other forms or names also as manifestations of a Universal God. We should be humble, avoid even a slight hint of ownership, accept diversity and never be influenced by any materialistic factors like the number of followers, numbers and grandiose of temples or wealth associated with them. We must recognize the whole universe as a huge Temple in which all creatures belong to only one Creator who is neither a male nor a female but beyond both.

Tolerance towards others especially when they do not agree with our beliefs is the very foundation of the truly faithful. True Saints have always recognized this and lived in that harmony. Unfortunately, most of our current religious leaders are in a race to expand their empires with followers, wealth, political and social power, and a name for themselves. They teach with narrow interpretations and often mislead their blind followers. Obviously, only the deluded can be deceived by the deluded. Never fall for miracles, magic or material benefits while walking on a religious path. All true religions require self-control, purity, ethics, morality and sacrifices. Do not delude yourself with a mirage. Instead, follow true saints or apostles like Buddha, Krishna, Jesus, Mira or similar manifestations of God.
