"O Lord! The Supreme Being! In my devotion, I shall not speak of, nor hear of, nor think of, nor recall, nor adore, nor resort to anything other than Thy Lotus (pure) Feet. Then the seat of all virtues and majesty, vouch safe unto me the privilege of serving Thee through all Thy creatures and created things." -- Prapanna Gita:26

This universal prayer is indicative of our desire to selflessly serve all creatures that come in contact with us. Single-minded pure devotion is essential to realize who we are, who God is and what His creation is. Servitude in this manner brings us to full freedom and results in joy and peace in our life.

The importance of persons, creatures or events we serve is not relevant. Rather the love of a pure heart and the humility with which we perform the tiniest tasks matters most to the Lord (Gita 2:40; 6:40). Without surrendering our ego and ownership of all kinds, it is not possible to experience love, which is God.

Without God's grace, no one, no matter how great he may be, can experience even a glimpse of the Atman or Love. Mirabai's constant dasi-bhava (servant of God) attitude gives us an example to follow. The Gitaji also ultimately advises us to do the same (Gita 18:65,66). The sooner we realize the limitations of our intellect and associated faculties, the sooner we will be able to humble ourselves. Without renunciation of what we must invariably get rid off, we will never come close to that Light of all lights (Gita 6:35).

Let us pay great attention to this prayer and practice it to the best of our ability without any excuses, discussion or rationale. Soon we will be blessed with the peace that we are wrongly looking for in perishable objects.
