Selfless Service
Remember the Goal of Selfless Service E-mail

All the services, self studies, and sacrifices we are performing are only for the one single, unique and unparalleled goal of Self Realization.

Therefore nothing we do is for others, but only for the self-purification of our Jiva. If we do not remember this constantly, pride, vanity, and arrogance can raise their hood anytime to poison our holy life. Our enemy is ignorance (agyan), which causes delusion (maya) and a downfall as certain as death for a created thing or being. Only love, selfless service and total vanquishing of self-love will do the trick. We should not hope for an easy, magical or sneaky way.

Only the brave ones can take this path, and then, only a few out of these will be able to continue in spite of worldly chaos. And even then, only a rare one will reach the goal (Gita 7:3). We hope to be That rare one of course. Gita indeed has that singular goal in mind as she guides us so that we reach the GOAL in this very life, the sooner the better.

How to Perform Selfless Service E-mail

by Swami Radhanandaji
When a person performs a Yajna (Gita 3:9) -- an act without any selfish motives or considerations -- true happiness, harmony and freedom prevails within and among his/her family, coworkers, friends, society, and with all creatures at large.

Selflessness Alone Will Not Suffice E-mail

The Vedantin says:

"It is not enough if you do selfless acts and lead a moral life. It is not enough if you scrupulously perform you duties. Something more is needed. You must attain to the Highest Divine Knowledge and thereby realize the Highest Goal yourself."

Quotes

“Even as drops of water make the ocean, so we, too, through friendship, can become and ocean of friendliness. The shape of the world would indeed be transformed if all of us lived in a spirit of love and amity with one another.” – M.K. Gandhi
