Spiritual Success in Fellowship E-mail

by Swami Radhanadaji

Formula for a spiritual success when a group is involved:

  1. Success depends upon you only and not on others under all conditions.
  2. It's an art and a gift of God to agree without sacrificing the Truth.
  3. Untruth will ultimately result in a failure.
  4. Listen attentively and be slow in passing judgment.
  5. Do not make important decisions in haste.
  6. If under the influence of anger or passion, wait at least 24 or 48 hours before announcing your opinion.
  7. Once you make a decision, do not waver. Stick to it unless you get convinced that you have made a mistake.
  8. If proved wrong, do not hesitate to ask for forgiveness and correct yourself.
  9. It is more important to agree with the Truth than with the group.
  10. Two or more fools do not make a wise man. Fools cannot be taught, that is why they are fools.
  11. The world is beautiful as is and is a mirror for all of us.
  12. If you must find faults, only look within. You have not come to correct or change others. It is God's prerogative.
  13. No matter how right you think you may be, when others are your problem, you are the cause of it.
  14. Change your attitude.
  15. Others, including so called disagreeable creatures, are a great help in elevating us.
  16. If you cannot put up with your neighbors or others, how will you progress?
  17. Always think how you may be a problem to others and how you can change to be more truthful and useful.
  18. Success is in humility, truthfulness, honesty and fearlessness.
  19. Maintain your dignity along with others.
  20. In Truth, you alone are the cause of your failure or success (Gita 6:5,6), so pay attention within and not without.

Quotes

"Beware, death is shooting arrows over your head. Conquer death, kill the desires of the heart, and be not vanquished in the battle of life. Sleep not the sleep of sensual delight, repent of your wrong-doings, and lose not the wealth of your heart. Let not the load of the world weigh on your head; shake it off and delay no longer. This is the time appointed for you. O traveler, awake; already the day is breaking. You must soon leave the inn."— Dadu (A Hindu Poet-Seer of 16th century)
